Team Atlas Copco pulls out all the stops in support of the community-driven sani2c bike race.

Sani2c, took place from the 11th to the 13th May 2022, originally started at Glen Cairn Farm near the Sani Pass in the Southern Drakensberg Mountain, KwaZulu-Natal. This event has grown into one of the most sought-after events on the South African mountain bike race calendar. During this grueling three-day, 265-kilometer race, some 1000 cyclists cross a section of the scenic KZN midlands mist belt, through dairy and timber farms and indigenous forests, down a pass into the Umkomaas Valley, through a nature reserve and sugar cane farms, to reach the finish line in Scottburgh on KZN’s South Coast.

What makes this race truly unique is the collaboration with local organizations, communities, and schools along the route to develop skills and create employment and other commercial opportunities. Every year, approximately thirteen communities and 23 schools/charities and environmental groups benefit from the Sani2c race. The Sani2c Community Development Trust is committed to ‘providing children with access to education, from pre-primary to university and college, and to creating funding opportunities for improvements to schools along the Sani2c route. This includes the building of libraries, additional classrooms, toilets, and play areas. The trust also finances school stationery and study materials.’
